Clarice Zhao

I am an Assistant Professor in marketing at Desautels Faculty of Management, McGill University.

Previously, I attended graduate school at University of Toronto (PhD in marketing) and University of British Columbia (MA in economics).

My research focuses on digital platform design and consumer demand estimation in light of behavioral phenomena. I have mainly studied two contexts: digital media and consumer-packaged goods.

  • For digital media, I examine the implications of platform policy design on consumer demand and creator productivity. I am particularly interested in ways to enhance user experience and encourage user exploration.

  • For consumer-packaged goods, I study how to improve consumer demand estimation regarding consumer learning and habitual purchase, utilizing insights from experimental economics and neuroscience.
